As good ethics become increasingly big business, Exeter environmental consultancy Tyler Grange is hosting a free live webinar on becoming a B Corp whilst successfully implementing a four-day working week.

Its launch comes during B Corp month and in advance of the four-day week National Rollout Programme, which runs from 20th April for eight weeks.

Taking place on Wednesday 5th April, from 1pm to 2pm, Tyler Grange’s live lunchtime webinar will share its key learnings and experiences from implementing two major strategic and operational changes last year.

It will be hosted by the firm’s Managing Director Simon Ursell, its Technical Director Julian Arthur and Sales Director Jonathan Berry. Sustainable impact leader and  Better Business Network’s Hannah Cox will facilitate the session.

They hope to encourage and support companies to have a more positive impact on people and the planet and become part of a community that believes business should be a force for good.

Tyler Grange is one of only a very small number of businesses to be both B Corp certified and an early adopter of reduced work hours. Following its hugely successful pilot, Tyler Grange reported that its Tribe was 14% happier, 28% less tired and 22% more productive working one day less. Sickness was also reduced by 66% and there was an 88% increase in CVs received.

At the same time, the leading environmental consultancy was navigating the complex B-Corp certification process, which was supported by its many wellbeing initiatives – including the permanent adoption of the four-day week.

Managing Director Simon Ursell said: “We founded Tyler Grange in 2010 as a purpose-driven business operating with clear values and, 12 years on, we decided to transform the way we operate, day-to-day, at both an employee and operational level.

“We know more than ever that purpose very much drives business success with clients, employees and investors. So, over the course of last year, we became B-Corp certified and adopted a permanent four-day working week after experiencing such pilot success.

“And we’re delighted to report that we've since seen an increase in efficiency, employee happiness and talent attraction, as well as a reduction in sickness absence – all with no impact on our bottom line.

“During our webinar, we’re ready to candidly share what worked for us and what we wish we’d known when we set out on our four-day week and B-Corp journey. Delegates will also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and chat openly about similar transformations they may be considering for their businesses.

“Ultimately, we want more companies, of all sizes and in all sectors, to realise that by investing in the happiness and wellbeing of people, you really can flourish and increase profitability. But it’s not easy and there were – and continue to be – plenty of challenges and learnings along the way and we hope to share them with as many innovative business leaders as possible on 5th April.”
